It seems just like it was yesterday that Terrelle Pryor announced his decision to enter the supplemental draft, avoiding the punishment for being involved with the tattoo scandal at Ohio State.

Actually it has been almost two years since the Raiders sacrificed a third round draft pick in the 2012 NFL Draft to select Pryor in the supplemental draft.

Pryor’s first year with the Raiders really didn’t consist of anything. He didn’t get see the field through out his first season. It’s understandable because everyone knew he was going to be a project and riding on the pine would be the best way to develop him.

When Pryor entered his second season with the Raiders, it was obvious that the clear-cut starting quarterback was Carson Palmer. However, he did get his first start when Palmer went down with an injury in week 16 against the Carolina Panthers.

Pryor’s first ever start in the NFL was up against the San Diego Chargers. While Pryor was a bit inconsistent, he did throw for 150 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for 49 yards and a touchdown.

There has been a lot of chatter lately that Pryor may be out of the picture for the Raiders, now that the team acquired Matt Flynn and drafted Tyler Wilson in the fourth round of the draft. Not to mention, undrafted rookie quarterback Matt McGloin is making an impression as well.

While the writing on the wall seems to indicate Pryor’s departure, be weary of everything you hear. This quarterback competition is still completely open and is very far from over.
